Back in the day, Serpico were known as Sleeper. After a brief legal dispute over ownership of that name in 1994, the boys decided to change their name to Serpico, re-release some of their records with the new name, and let the rest go out of print.

Gutwrench was another Staten Island band containing members of Sleeper/Serpico.
